MA Update

Posted on 13th February 2011 in Major Project - Words, Misc, Question: Materiality. No Comments.

This blog has become somewhat neglected over the break, simply because I’ve been keeping a real work “journal” and sketchbook. As I translate things out of those in order to make them suitable for potential inclusion in my reflexive report (sort of like a thesis) I will put the notes here.

For my major project I will be looking at neutrality in type. You can read my proposal here –  So, what are you trying to say? (PDF – 571k). To follow up on this I’ve been comparing typefaces, I will be launching a questionnaire later on this week and I’m designing some posters to see how notoriously neutral typefaces work in a real context.

I’m currently reading Typographers on Type – Edited by Ruari McLean which is teaching me an awful lot!
